Amplifiers

Vintage sound - Made in Germany

The manufacturing of amplifiers at Framus goes back to the development of the electro-acoustic department, which was created in 1953 in relation to the Triumphbass and the Hawaiian instruments. In the beginning they were simple boxed amplifiers in suitcase format, obviously with tube technology, and mostly used to amplify a number of instruments or sometimes even the whole band. The Konsul combos may be one of the first Framus amplifiers. Later in 1958 and 1959 came the 3D series with the models Baby 3D and Konsul 3D.

In the early sixties a collaboration started with Heraton (Kurt Rankl), a manufacturer of amplifiers and electronic special equipment. On the basis of those amplifiers the Strat®o series was created, having more output, bigger speakers, a vibrato effect, and also contributing to the musical development from beat to rock. The Strat®o all-tube combo was available in 4 different configurations; today they are very rare and are sought-after collectibles.
